Yes, I’m Knocking on Wood: Cost of Lumber Drops!

Writer's picture: Kelly PreschlerKelly Preschler

As you may recall, the Pandemic-ignited boom in housing stretched supply chains

to the breaking point. It’s possible that no construction material was harder than

lumber. Prices absolutely skyrocketed!

In fact, supply chain issues and increased demand shot lumber prices up from

$400 per thousand board feet to $1500 for the same amount of wood.

Prices remained volatile, with dips and dives before skyrocketing again. Recently, however, prices seem to have settled to nearly pre-pandemic prices which is welcome news for contractors, homeowners, and even do-it-yourselfers.

So, if you’ve been holding off on a home renovation, a new deck, or even a small

project, now is a great time to head to the home improvement center.
